Decorating Ryan's Christmas Tree

Today Kennedy and Mckinlee came over. We decorated the little Christmas tree in Ryan's room and I think that it turned out beautifully. They had so much fun doing it too.

Christmas at the Krause's

This is a magical Christmas for our little family. It is Dylan's first Christmas and he absolutely loves to get into the tree. He likes to take the lights and get tangled into them and take the berries and chew on them. Ryan is excited about the tree, hot chocolate, christmas lights, and he thinks that it is just great that Christmas is Jesus' birthday. Ryan wants to make a birthday cake for Jesus on his birthday and sing him "Happy Birthday". We're listening to Christmas music, reading Christmas books, and watching Christmas movies. It is such a fun time of year.

More Thanksgiving Pics...

San Diego

For Thanksgiving we were able to go to San Diego- finally! We haven't been down there since our trip in May. We left on Saturday before Thanksgiving and stayed until the Friday after. It was almost a whole week. We were very busy! On Sunday we went to the Encinitas Poinsettia Festival where Ryan and Dylan got cozy new blankies. On Monday we went to Coronodo Island and played on the beach. We forgot the camera so I will have to post those pictures when I get them back. I tried to keep Dylan out of the sand and clean, but he likes to move. Dylan and Ryan played all in the sand and were covered from head to toe in sand. It was a beautiful day and there was hardly anyone there. On Tuesday Ryan, Dylan, Nana, and Papa had a buddy day. They went to the Scripps Birch Aquarium and saw Santa at the mall. Ryan asked for candy. Daniel and I were able to go around La Jolla and reminisce about our fun time there. We also went to the beautiful San Diego Temple. On Wednesday Daniel and Ed played a round of golf while Mom and I hung out at the house and then went to our favorite store Home Goods. We took the Honda so I couldn't buy hardly anything- I think that was Daniel's plan! On Thanksgiving we went to Josh and Stacey's house to celebrate and that was wonderful. They have such a beautiful house and were great hosts. Ryan loved playing with their little doggies. The next day we shopped a bit and then packed. That night we went home. We had a packed week, but it was so fun! Both boys hardly slept. They were having way too much fun!

Happy Birthday Daniel

Daniel decided that he wanted to have family over for his birthday on the next day. This meant that Daniel got two cakes and two celebrations! What a weekend for Daniel. He got a new video iPod and he's enjoying tinkering with it. I wasn't sure which one he would want so I asked very inconspicuous questions like, "What's your favorinte amount of memory?" and "What is your favorite color out of black and silver?". Although he acted surprised I think he was onto me.

Kennedy and Ryan

Tennille and I decided to go for a walk to the park one day. Kennedy and Ryan held hands and talked the whole way there- it was so cute.

Joy School

Ryan has been going to Joy School since September. He is loving the chance to play with other friends and learning new things. Today they had a costume party at the park and did races with mini pumpkins, pumpkin throwing, and scarecrow shooting (Dad, you'd be happy to know that Ryan's aim is suprisingly right on- most of the time). Here are some of the pictures that I took before my camera went dead.

Happy Halloween

Wow! Ryan really enjoyed this Halloween. We went to a party on Saturday and then we had trick or treating on Wednesday and he really enjoyed himself. After the boys were in their costumes we headed out to see Grandma Silva at the Care Center and when we went outside Ryan saw some kids trick or treating and said, "Look at all my friends!" He also couldn't believe that everyone was giving him candy. Dylan didn't really know what was going on, although after wearing his costume on Saturday the zipper broke and he was having a costume malfunction all night (note the exposed leg in some of the pictures). After we went trick-or-treating we sat out front and handed out candy. The night was a lot of fun!

Pumpkin Guts

We carved pumpkins tonight. Ryan said that the pumpkin guts were yucky! Dylan wanted to eat the pumpkin guts. It was fun!

What Ryan did all day...

While we went down to Madera for Dylan's surgery, Ryan stayed at home with Nana. During their day together they managed to go to the park and play soccer, go to Target, go to McDonald's for lunch (and play games for two hours), take a nap, make and decorate cookies, and make dinner for us when we got home. Ryan had so much fun! Here is a few pictures of the cookies they made.

After Surgery Pictures

Here are some photos of Dylan during recovery.

Surgery Day

The day has finally come and gone. Since Dylan was born we have been anxiously awaiting this day. On Tuesday October 16th he had his surgery and now he is on the road to recovery. Dylan was not able to eat anything from midnight of the night before. He had his dinner at about 6:30 PM and then he didn't eat until after 7:00 the next night. He was able to have apple juice and he gladly took that. We drove down to Madera the day of the surgery. We arrived at Childrens Hospital at 10:30. Dylan checked in and then was weighed and measured and had his blood pressure taken. Then we went into our room and waited. That is where we took pictures of our brave little man. He got to play with this train that he loved (it was the first time he was actually able to play with something without Ryan yanking it out of his hands). We had to wait for an hour and a half in this room. We had his surgeon come in, Dr. Kaji, as well as the anaesthesiologist. Then a nurse came in a chatted with us and said that it was time to take him. I was not ready for that. Dylan was so brave and went right into her arms where she took him to the operating room. The surgery took three hours and of course we were worrying the whole time. When it was done Dr. Kaji came out and said that it was very successful and that he was in recovery. Finally a nurse came out and said that we could see him (we had to wait until he woke up from the anaesthesia). They wheeled him in on his bed, he looked so small! When we got a little closer he looked bigger from all of the fluids they had been pumping into him. Dylan was just drowsy and he didn't even cry one bit. We are so proud of how tough he was. He did way better than we had imagined and we are just relieved that we are over that hump and working on recovery. The recovery portion is also going along quite well. He has to have a catheter in until next Tuesday so we are double diapering him. However, he is sitting very still for me during the diaper changes so I am slowly feeling more comfortable with it. I just don't want to hurt him. We appreciate everyones prayers for him, he is doing great. Here are some pictures of him in his little gown- what a sweetheart!

We miss Nana!

Nana's house to Ryan's house is 430 miles apart. We miss her so much! The last time we have seen Nana is for Ryan's birthday. Here is the cute picture of Ryan and Nana. Nana we miss you! We have to see you soon!
